When you export your mash-up, it will only mash-up the days for which you have selected seconds. That day’s documentation is done!įorgot to take footage one day? No problem. You’ll see the formerly-yellow box on your calendar is now filled in with a thumbnail image from the video. Once your yellow frame is exactly where you want it, you can “snip” that second to the app by using the orange scissors icon on the upper right. There were a few clips that really benefitted from the longer air-time, so I embraced this feature! That’s why my 365 days of footage ended up at 7 minutes 19 seconds instead of 6 minutes 5 seconds. Super Second: This feature I only learned about after several weeks with the app, but the + sign inside the yellow frame will increase the length of your second to a super second, which is 1.5 seconds. So, fiddle around with it a few times, and you’ll know the ins and outs! It took WAY longer to type out those instructions than it would for you to complete the task in the app. ![]() If you want to tweak the second by inching it forward or backward a smidgen, you can use the teal arrow buttons on the far left and right. And to move forward or backward in the video, just drag the footage found to the right of the yellow frame. You can view that second by hitting the tiny play button within it. Then, you can use the controls on the bottom editing bar to choose your “second.” Whatever is in the yellow frame is the second that is highlighted. You can watch the full video by using the play and stop button atop the large-frame video. I’ve never tried this before, but now I’m excited to experiment with it.įor the current day and any past day where you recorded video on your phone, you’ll see the day highlighted in yellow on the calendar.Ĭlick that day, and you’ll have access to that day’s footage and can select the clip from which you want to pull a second. You can shoot a second of video with one tap of the teal button or hold it down for a longer clip, and the app will automatically select that last second you shot. Or for the easy route that will eliminate the editing in step 3, you can open up the app and select the camera icon in the bottom left hand corner. If you want to carefully select your second from a longer clip, you can use your phone’s camera app for shooting video like I do. Right now, the app is $4.99 for iPhone devices and free for Android devices-money well spent when you consider how quick and easy this app makes the process of preserving memories. I give to you the short movie of our year in 365 (ish) seconds! Take a sip of something yummy and open those eyes wide. …but one second of video everyday? That I can do.Īnd if you’re excited to learn about the smartphone app I use to collect my seconds as well as my insider tips, stick around! But first…. I may not have a ton of time right now to scrapbook or journal… Not only to celebrate the present, but to preserve memories that we’ll treasure in the future. “How we spend our days is of course how we spend our lives.” -Annie DilliardĪnd it’s important to me to document the ordinary and extraordinary moments from our everyday lives. Or October 29th when we put a pumpkin beanie on her head and made every single person we passed by smile as wide as a mile. Or September 16th when Junie discovered her belly laugh. One second can say a lot! It can tell a story, evoke an emotion, or take me right back to that moment on June 15th when I crept up on Mark soaking up some sun on the dock with our 10 day old. I understand why every parent says to us, “It goes so fast….” It’s because it does.Īnd yet there’s something else I learned during my “One Second Everyday” project this past year. As the seconds of footage fly by, I watch her grow up before my eyes. ![]() The last clip I took this past Monday of my grandfather lovingly holding our 10 month old daughter Juniper on his lap. The first clip I took in the car, 31 weeks pregnant, the book * And Baby Makes Threeon my lap. Everyday for 365 consecutive days, I shot one second of video from our lives and mashed it together into a 7 minute, 19 second video. I completed one year of my “One Second Everyday” Video Diary project.
